"In order to write about life first you must live it." - Ernest Hemingway

Heather K. Zullinger holds a BA in Creative Writing/English Literature from Miami University of Ohio and an MFA in Creative Writing from Fairfield University. Her work experience encompasses almost as many careers as decades – everything from broadcast production assistant to magazine advertising sales; travel manager to fiction editor. She has lived with her husband and three daughters in six states and two countries, embracing the cultures and people along the way. These experiences have fueled her passion for the individual story embedded in each of us.

Writing Story

Heather worked as the Graduate Assistant in the Fairfield University Writing Center from 2014-2015, assisting both graduate and undergraduate students across all disciplines and concentrations in the development of graduate and senior theses, term papers, personal statements for graduate/professional schools and freshman developmental writing assignments. She developed and implemented generative writing salons, coordinated the staff of undergraduate tutors within the center and across the numerous outreach programs created by the Director. She also worked as the fiction editor for the online graduate publication Mason's Road from 2014-2015.

In 2015, Heather relocated with her family to the Philadelphia area and launched WOW. Since that time, she has worked with students from both public and private high schools, utilizing the knowledge gleaned in a university writing center to develop the individual voices within these students' college applications and prepare them for the expectations ahead.

Heather's approach to Manuscript editing and revision reflects this same philosophy. She collaborates with each author, working within her/his distinct creative process, to determine precisely how each project can be enhanced – whether it's character development, structural assessment or simple line-edits. Timing is often of the essence and to the best of her ability, Heather works within those parameters.

Heather is currently completing her first novel, Becoming King, a 1990's Los Angeles story of racial awakening and responsibility in the wake of the Rodney King incident.
